A SKETCH IN MY MOLESKINE PLANNER WHO INSPIRES ME, ONCE A WEEK, EVERY WEEK IN 2016.

***************************************************

Who:  His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet.

What: Spiritual leader of Tibet who travels the world speaking on behalf of the Tibetian people, and other world issues.

Where:  Born in Taktser, Tibet, but has been living in exile in India since 1960.

Why:    In light of this weeks events in Orlando, my thoughts have turned to those world citizens who symbolize peace.

The 14th Dalai Lama is an extraordinary world citizen, indeed.

Having traveled the world, meeting with political and religious leaders to promote inter-faith dialogue, he is spreading a message of compassion, peace,  kindness and a universal responsibility to each other as humans.

This simple, gentle message the Dalai Lama is spreading I think is the most urgent one of our time in the world’s history.

The need for simple human-to-human relationships is becoming increasingly urgent . . . Today the world is smaller and more interdependent. One nation’s problems can no longer be solved by itself completely. Thus, without a sense of universal responsibility, our very survival becomes threatened. Basically, universal responsibility is feeling for other people’s suffering just as we feel our own. It is the realization that even our enemy is entirely motivated by the quest for happiness. We must recognize that all beings want the same thing that we want. This is the way to achieve a true understanding, unfettered by artificial consideration.” –His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama
