Who:   Temple Grandin

What:  American spokes-person for autism and humane treatment of livestock, professor of animal science at Colorado State university

Where:  Born in Boston, Massachusetts

Why:      She is an incredible example of what can happen when people invest in the whole person and all their unique abilities.  Born with autism, she went on to pursue a bachelors degree in human psychology, and both a  master’s and doctorate degree in animal science. She open speaks candidly of her personal experience as an individual living with autism, which has provided valuable insight into the behavior of both autistic individuals and animals.

She gives credit to her success to her family, teachers, and those who invested in her well-being.
