“How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.” — Annie Dillard

A good friend and I had a conversation a month or so ago, and what he said is still on my mind.  He kept emphasized the importance of daily practice.  In whatever you are doing…..running, drawing, meditating, being compassionate, the list goes on and on.  There is a  simple brilliance in what he said.  With daily practice,…

A good friend and I had a conversation a month or so ago, and what he said is still on my mind.  He kept emphasized the importance of daily practice.  In whatever you are doing…..running, drawing, meditating, being compassionate, the list goes on and on.  There is a  simple brilliance in what he said.  With daily practice, our “practice” become integrated into our lives, and real change can happen.

Since that talk, here are some of my daily practices:

To work towards this goal, I am also adopting a technique to daily writing that I saw on the fabulously whimsical Writing Ruth blog, where LA-based blogger Ruth posts 6 things she is grateful nearly every day, calling it “Project Gratitude“.  I love the idea, and genuinely believe feelings of gratitude an d being grateful for what you have actually attract more abundance into your life.  Funny how life works that way!

So, for the rest of December, I will be posting daily a list of things I am grateful for in my sidebar, to help with my daily practice.  Here’s to being grateful and living in abundance. Enjoy!

I am so going to purchase those two things! Never thought about painting in a diary. Looks so awesome! The tree looks uber cute 🙂

Thanks! The Moleskin watercolor journal is awesome and really inspires you to be creative….portable too! 🙂 The tree, well, I love trees and it tends to be a common theme.

Hello! I’m just now seeing this. Thank you so much for your kind words & for the link back. I love this post …. I’m with you about daily practices. I just started playing with watercolors earlier this month as I participated in the Brooklyn Art Library’s Sketchbook Project and have decided to use them more and more. Coincidentally, I just started art journaling in a moleskine (was so grateful to find out it’s not from animals). Anyway – beautiful blog here!

Hi there Ruth. Watercolor is pretty fun….something I have dabbled in for a while, but trying to make it a more regular practice. I am intrigued by the Sketchbook Project you mentioned and will have to look into it. I LOVE sketchbooks, and Moleskins are my favorite. A bit pricey, but really gorgeous high quality paper.

Thanks for your sweet comments, it is much appreciated! Please share your journaling pages if you are willing, because they really are inspiring for people to see! 😀
